[Partners-IMCWMA] invasive grass in vernal pools

Don't the references provide any indication of the site observed or
documented? The only "close" entry for Glyceria declinata in the SMASCH
database is for Lake Co., in 1975, as "5 miles E., Hwy. 20, Lake
Mendocino." My interpretation of this poor record is that the location
is 5 miles east of Lake Mendocino along Hwy. 20, which based on my guess
at distance, is still in Mendocino Co., but very close to the county
line either way. Whether the Lake County entry is in error, the plant
may have been present along Hwy. 20 in vernally wet areas. If that's
the case, then it may have been disturbed or eradicated during highway
construction, or not.

Subject: [Partners-IMCWMA] invasive grass in vernal pools

While researching invasive species that are not yet wide-spread in
Mendocino County, I have run across several references to the grass
Glyceria declinata (waxy mannagrass) occurring in vernal pools in
Mendocino County. This is a Cal-IPC Moderate impacting a high-value
area (vernal pools contain rare species) which is potentially eradicable

because the habitat is limited. Hand weeding is said to be effective on

small populations.

Does anyone know the locations of Glyceria declinata in Mendocino
County?

If we can identify at least one specific location, we can propose this
project in the upcoming proposal.

Thanks, Tara
